EASTER BUNNY RUN
Sponsored by Porscheshop
Easter Sunday 4th April 2010

Easter is a time for families and we aim to make this a family event.
The Rally is a scenic run through the Cotswolds and is 40 miles in length. This is long enough to get a feel for then area but short enough not to be boring for the children. Entrants will be issued with a stick on Rally Plate and a set of Tulip Route Maps. It is in fact a half-sized Cotswold Rally. On their return there will be something for the youngsters.

As well as the Rally, there will be light refreshments at Cornbury House and a Scalectric layout for children of all ages. Club Shop will be open and this is an opportunity to see the new range of goods for 2010 and take advantage of end of season lines at discount prices.

Costs

Entry to Cornbury House is of course free to members.

The Rally is £10 per car and you should book your place by sending a SAE marked Bunny Run to me, Geoff Ives, 3 All Souls Cottages, Stanton Harcourt, Witney OX29 5RW.

Alternatively send Geoff Ives an email.

All of the proceeds from entries will go to Parasol Charity.

KENDAL to WHITLEY BAY WALK

What started out as a 50th birthday personal challenge ended up as a key fundraising event for Parasol Charity. The 106 mile walk through the Pennines was completed over 4 days and was undertaken by Anjna and a group of friends, colleagues and others with sado-masochistic tendencies. The team ranged from experienced ramblers, to others for whom a walk to the garden was a major expedition and each of the walkers were participating in their own time on this sponsored challenge. All who started the walk did complete it. Along the way we enjoyed the best that the Pennines has to offer – sweeping scenery and roads that wind off into the distance, 17% gradients and hairpin turns, local characters and local beers.

On the first and last day of the walk, representatives of the military (based at or involved in Selly Oak) turned up to share the experience.

See our gallery for all the pictures from the walk.

PARASOL CHARITY GOLF DAY
Lilleshall Hall Golf Club

September 27th 2007

(This is Roy’s area of interest and his Golf Club so if he sounds a little passionate in his praise please forgive him.)

The Lilleshall is a Henry Colt designed course set in beautiful countryside and though not long it is a good test for all standards. The event consisted of 17 teams of 4 players, both team stable and individual stableford.

  • The first team purse was won by Andy’ team - the crazy bandits one and all
  • The individual 1st man was Mike Corless of Equita
  • The individual 1st woman was Angela Tyreman

All enjoyed the day and a lot more prizes were awarded to individuals beating the pro. The weather was extremely kind to us and the food was out of this world.

This day is expected to be repeated next year with possibly two days (one in June and one in September) being held instead of one.

See our gallery for all the pictures from the Golf Day at Lilleshall.

We look forward to further events in the new year enabling Parasol to provide even more assistance to the injured military personnel and their families. Whatever our individual beliefs are, we remember soldiers get told when and where to go, they have little or no choice and we are grateful for their sacrifices.

Roy M Jones – Chair

These two events (Kendal to Whiltley Bay Walk and the inaugural Lilleshall Golf Day) raised in excess of £20,000 for Parasol Charity.
